SAVE THE CHILDREN

 

How could someone bang their 3-year-old child to the ground until dead. 

Gloria Elena Hughes, 37, is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death in Maryland. A sheriff’s deputy saw her holding a lifeless child in the street early Sunday morning and called for assistance. The child, Jason Garcia, 3, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Surveillance video allegedly showed Hughes banging the child into the ground several times. The boy’s father had alerted police in North Carolina to a custody dispute the night before.  (reported by WMAR-2 Baltimore Maryland News)

Our children are our future, our hope, our joy. They deserve our love, our care, our support. But the world is full of dangers, threats, and harms. 

Oh Lord; We pray to you today for all the children in the world who are suffering from harm and abuse. We ask you to protect them from physical, emotional, sexual and spiritual violence. We ask you to heal their wounds and restore their dignity. We ask you to comfort their hearts and fill them with your peace.

the Bible that command parents not to murder, not to provoke anger, not to abuse physically or sexually, and to discipline their children in a loving and respectful way.

Find Help

Child abuse is a serious and widespread problem that affects millions of children around the world. It can take many forms, such as physical, sexual, emotional, or neglect.   - National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (1-800-799-7233)

  - RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline: 1-800-656-HOPE (1-800-656-4673)

- Contact a trusted adult. If you feel comfortable and safe, you can reach out to an adult who can help you, such as a teacher, a counselor, a doctor, a relative, or a friend's parent. Tell them what is happening to you and ask them to help you stop the abuse and get the support you need.

- Report the abuse. If you are in immediate danger or you want to stop the abuse from happening again, you can report it to the authorities, such as the police or child protective services. You can call 911 or your local emergency number if you need urgent help. You can also call the helplines mentioned above to get assistance with reporting the abuse.

- Seek counseling. Talking to a professional therapist or counselor can help you cope with the trauma and emotions caused by the abuse. They can also help you heal and recover from the abuse and build your self-esteem and resilience. You can ask your helpline, your trusted adult, or your doctor for a referral to a counselor who specializes in child abuse.

You can ask your counselor, your helpline, or your trusted adult for a local or online support group for abused children.

Remember that you are not to blame for the abuse and that you have the right to be safe and happy. Finding help for abused children is not easy, but it is possible and it can make a difference in your life. You are not alone and there is hope for a better future.
